Residency Packages: | ||||||
Combining Magical Rain performances together into a residency is a cost effective way to
bring a deeper immersion for your students. Each of our performances can be combined with workshop activities that
give students a chance to "enter" into the stories themselves - to make connections between the story's
messages and their own experiences. Our specialty is custom designing arts experiences so that our offering to you has the right mix of content, energy, dynamic and scope for what you need. Our workshops and residencies can be adapted to fit many different audiences, events and subjects, including: · conflict resolution · emotional intelligence · leadership training · respecting differences |

"Your residency was an overwhelming success. Because of his involvement in the
play and Ike's visit to his home at the begining of the residency, one eighth grader stayed in school rather than
dropping out. Although his future is uncertain as I write this letter, your impact and influence on him have been
remarkable... You have made such a difference to so many of our students, Hispanic, African American and white.
Some students who have worked with you in the past two years have made amazing progress from debilitating shyness
to strong self-confidence, in large part because of their experiences on the stage. The afternoon of the performance,
staff stopped me in the halls to comment on the amazing work which you have done with our students. Each assembly
was greeted with very positive behavior and tumultous applause. While this is not Peoria, if it plays to the middle
and high school, it will succeed anywhere!" - Sherry Dee Meyer, Migrant/ Bilingual Resource Teacher, Covert High School, Covert, MI "A fine, fine two day medley of theater, improv and inspiration. That you do it all - from writing to sets - inspires me most." - Stephen Smith, teacher, Hancock High School "Their colorful productions proved to be a thought provoking, insightful and creative look into the history of Hispano-American culture. The creativity, talent, passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for their art enlightened all who attended their performances." - Frank Sanchez, Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs, De Pauw University, Greencastle, IN Student Responses: "I enjoyed doing the play. Overcoming my fear to get up in front of the whole class was really hard, but in the end I did it. Also, working with the kids was a lot of fun. Helping them with their play was fun. Making the props and working with kids my age and people that I never knew until then. Ike and Dan helped me overcome my fears of being up on stage." - Stephanie "I hope that you come back and have another play so that we can have fun like last time. Please, Dr. Vasquez, bring back Benito because he was so much fun. I liked the way we did the play. I liked the way we did the concentration, the clap, and the mirror - with the whole class and seperate by ourselves. I liked the play because it was talking about our ancestry, and I want you to play another story so that we can learn more about our ancestry." - Sergio "I think what you did for us was really good because you taught us a lot about our culture. I think you should come back again next year to make a better play and work with us again because I want to teach the black folks more about our culture."- Isabel |
